Monday Morning Ritual: The European Open

July 8th, 2008

It’s a ritual for me at the Putter Studio. Every Monday I come in, grab a coffee or tea, and I sit down to review the equipment counts and results from the various worldwide professional golf tours.  It’s an important gauge in my business to see how my equipment performs at the highest level when used by the most talented players in the world. It’s also important to me that more players from all walks of life on all tours are playing my putters in record numbers.

I love stats, too.

For instance, during last week’s European Open at The London Golf Club we had seven players in the Top 10  trusting Scotty Cameron putters. The winner, Titleist ambassador Ross Fisher, played an SSS Newport 2 Tour putter. We’ve made more of an effort on the Eurpean PGA Tour to share the love, and it’s great to see the results.

What I find fascinating is that what I made last week for a player could actually win the even this week. It’s a huge pat on the back and it’s what keeps me going from week to week.

Hello Scotty-san,

Thank you for update of the blog.
I look to always enjoy your blog.

It is big joy that Scotty putter wins as for us.
And I wish many tour players use a Scotty putter.

Cheers,
TOMOHIRO

Must have been pretty cool to see AK capture a win with his “Boomer Sooner” Cameron. I witnessed the event first hand!

Scotty:

I had the good fortune to speak with Ross Fisher, when he was at Doral for the WGC-CA Championship in March, 2008 , about you and your putters and how Ross and I shared a passion for your craftsmanship.

Ross Fisher could not be a finer gentleman either ; as well as a fine young and promising player.
Your putters could not be in better hands.

All the best,

Eddie Gomez

Scotty,

Congrats on all the success you have had over across the pond.

I am looking forward to meeting you for the first time at the ICC this August. My girlfriends birthday is ON August 7th which is the day we will get to meet you. I was hoping you could draw something special on her headcover that day.

I am also looking forward to putting my design skills to the test and eventually working with you to design headcovers. (hey, a man must dream right?)

Any chance of getting a sneak peak of the british pen headcover in the dark like you did for the open? Us TCC members had a lot of fun with that.

Talk soon
Erik

Scotty,

I keep track of the equipment counts at my club here in Austin, Texas. It’s a great feeling to have Titleist, Vokey, and Cameron clubs in the bag of our tournament winners like the Club Championship, Member-Member, and Member-Guest. Certainly not the highest level of play, but our players can certainly relate to winning with the best.

Congratulations on your continued successes. I’m a loyal Cameron putter user. I know you have some new offerings coming up. Wondering if there’s anything new in the Newport line? Also, I’ve noticed that a “Newport” has no line in the back & all Newport 2’s have the sight line in the cavity. Wondering if there will ever be a Newport 3 with the sight line on top of the putter?

Thanks again for creating great putters!
