Congratulations, Alberto!

April 30th, 2008

Friend of the Putter Studio and all Cameron Collectors who’ve been fortunate enough to meet him, Alberto Velez made his first hole-in-one this past weekend on the 8th at Ojai Valley Inn & Spa. He thought he flew the green on this par 3 only to find his ball sitting pretty in the cup. Congrats, Alberto!

Awesome! It is amazing how difficult it is to make a hole-in-one. I have been playing since I was 4 (31 years) and am a 2 handicap. Made a double eagle once, but never a one.

I too have something to celebrate. I just got my hands on a 009!!!

Alberto, my man, congrats on your hole-in-one. Could not happen to a better guy. Glad to see you’ve recovered from our round at Trump National in March.

a sincere thank you to everyone !!!

it was one of those very exciting and yet surreal experiences in life which i will always remember … kind of hard to believe but pretty cool …

the 8th hole at Ojai is an uphill par 3 where you can only see the top of the flag from the tee box

i was playing from the tips and the pin placement was in the back of the green playing to about 140 yards

i hit a solid pitching wedge hoping to land it on the center of the green … the line was perfect but i couldn’t see where my ball had landed from the tee box

when i got to the green i didn’t see my ball anywhere and thought i had flown the green so i grabbed my sand wedge and my trusty cameron putter thinking my ball was in the back rough behind the green

well, after a few minutes of searching i was unable to find my ball and i was a bit perplexed … i walked back on the green, passed the pin, happened to glance down in the cup and there was my ball smiling up at me :-)

a great golf moment in life …

Way to go Alberto, I think you were over due to get your first one. By the way, don’t you think it’s time to visit the eye doctor now. It would be great if you could see the next one.

if it was a money match and you didn’t check the cup, you would have had to walk all the way down to the tee box, and fire up another one… lol

well done!
