001 Putter Surfaces
April 18th, 2008
I had a nice surprise at the Custom Shop this week when the very first production putter I ever made showed up at the Putter Studio for restoration. Back in 1991, I received what I like to call a “pity order” from Fry’s Warehouse of Golf in San Francisco.
I made 700 of this model, each individually engraved with the serial number on the toe. This one, the first, needs a little TLC. I think it will look great after its restoration. I’ll post the follow-up shots when we’re done.

WOW!!!! What a fantastic surprise this must have been for you Scotty!
I imagine that this will be a true labour of love for you and that this 001 will get personal attention?
Cant wait to see the results…i’m sure she’ll be beautiful.
Very pleased that this came back to see you after all this time. A truly nice story.
Regards, Liam.
Scotty, it’s great to see that this putter has surfaced again. Was the “designed by” on the face sort of a subtle reference to the old “designed by” Arnold Palmer putters of the early 1960s? Also, why did the rest of the production run just say “By Scotty Cameron” on the face? Were you looking for a cleaner look? I think your fans would love to know..
