Custom Shop Overhaulin’

I am very proud of what we’ve created here at the Custom Shop. Not only do we design, mill, stamp and finish putters to our touring professionals’ exact specifications, but we can also perform major overhauls for everyday players on putters that in any other situation could be complete write-offs.

Take for example this putter sent in by a local San Diego family. As you’ll see in the slideshow, their house was burned to the foundation in last year’s wildfires. It was a devastating loss, but thankfully they were safely evacuated and no one in their family was injured.

This particular Teryllium Santa Fe was a Christmas present for the family’s son, Kyle. It had already been restored and was in mint condition, resting comfortably in its hiding place until the holiday. When the evacuation orders came in late October, the family had to pack and leave in a hurry, hoping that the flames would spare their house. They were one of the unlucky families who would learn that the fire took nearly everything.

When they came back to sift through the rubble, the putter was blackened, bent and seemingly a total loss. The mother was heartbroken for her son, who was hoping to receive this putter for Christmas. After an email to the Custom Shop, she was relieved to learn that, in fact, the putter could be brought back to life.

Of course this story, and so many like it in San Diego, touched us here at the Custom Shop. So, we hustled to get it done before Christmas. In the grand scheme of things for this family, it was a little bit of hope during an extremely challenging time. We were happy to do this for them, and we hope that Kyle enjoys his Teryllium Santa Fe for years to come.
