Scotty, Straight from the Hip
December 13th, 2007
As the year draws to a close, I’d like to share some thoughts with you.
Recently, there have been some rumblings in the world of Cameron collecting, and I wanted to offer my opinions and insight. As with anything in life, there will always be naysayers. Let them say what they will. Rise above them and follow your passion. Collecting putters, headcovers and other Cameron creations should be a fun thing, an enjoyable pursuit–a passion.
Back in 1990, when the average price of a putter was $79 and my putters were $300, they said I’d be out of business in six months. I also heard: “Just what we need, another putter maker.” But I always believed that if I made the very best, I’d find customers who believed in me and my putters. After more than ten years winning the weekly putter count on the PGA Tour, I’m still here. Some people just love to take shots at those on top. I’ll stay focused on the positive as I always have and always will. And, I will continue to create the finest putters I possibly can.
Every putter I have designed with my name on it has been–and will continue to be–milled in the United States. Rest assured that the purity of the steel and my unique milling techniques result in a fully milled putter of the highest possible quality. Sometimes I make limited runs of putters to offer my customers something extra special. If I say that 750 of a particular model were made, I never make even one more.
My number one focus at the Putter Studio is to design putters for Titleist and create custom putters for the PGA Tour. Putters that are returned or don’t go to Tour players make it to the worldwide collector’s market where they are sought after for their rarity, quality and craftsmanship. My father instilled in me that passion for craftsmanship and design a long time ago. It’s something that I infuse not only into my putter designs, but also into my accessories, clothing and Cameron creations. Yes, I’m a putter maker, but I enjoy design of all types and I love sharing that design with my friends and customers.
With the increase in popularity of the Cameron brand, I’ve watched the CameronCollector.com community grow and couldn’t be more impressed and proud. It is a club run by a passionate group of Scotty Cameron putter aficionados who spend countless hours maintaining an educational and entertaining forum for like-minded Cameron putter fans. These gentlemen have assembled on their own now under the leadership of Bill Vogeney to provide a positive, enlightening place for Scotty Cameron fans to meet and share in their passion for my putters. My hat’s off to you all.
So, when the naysayers try to make you lose focus, remember that what they don’t know (until now) is that when I hear the rumblings, it makes me more driven, more focused and more passionate about my mission. As I say to myself, I’ll say to you: Stay focused and enjoy the ride. I truly wish you, your friends and your families the best during the holiday season. Thank you for your continued loyalty and support of me and my brand.
Happy Holidays!
Scotty

I’ve rewritten this post about 3 times… each time it just didn’t seem like the right response.
Maybe in this instance, a short and simple comment is most appropriate:
Jimmy James,
Proud to be a Cameron Fan
Thank you for the post Scotty,
I putted with my first scotty cameron red x just over 2 years ago, i purchased my first red X2, 18 months ago, and have since added to my collection. I am now playing a Del Mar3.5 and have added a handful of other putters to my collection.
The balance, design, craftmanship, and attention are second to none. They truly are pieces of art, and they just feel good.
Thank you for having this passion, it shows.
Mike
What a great message!
Thanks for all you do to make Cameron collecting so enjoyable. The members of TCC appreciate it when you take time out of your busy schedule to fill them in on what’s going on in your world.
Best wishes to you and your family for a joyous holiday.

Scotty,

Scotty,
Thanks for another Great Year in 2007 from the Club Cameron Kit to all the Awesome Releases of new putters and Cameron accessories. Congrats on being the #1 putter maker AGAIN and I know we all can’t wait to see what you’ll impress us with in 2008!! Hope to see you in Orlando.
Thanks for the Holiday wishes and may you and yours have a Great Holiday too!!
Joe
Dear Scotty,
Well said! Indeed these last few months have been trying times, but I knew that my passion for your putters and my friends at the TCC was much stronger than the ill thoughts and actions of the very few. I am so glad that you shared your thoughts with us, it was important for us, it is all about leadership. Like a true leader and innovator you stepped up to the plate, and like the “no hitter” of your youth, you stroke out all the nay sayers.
Thanks Scotty for all the good things you have done for the golfing community, TCC, and us, your loyal fans and customers. Congratulations on an excellent 2007 and I wish you a better 2008.
Sincerely,
Hector R. Fernandez
Scotty,
I can’t think of a more appropriate message to send out to all of your fans this holiday season. Thank you for everything you do for all of us, and for the game of golf.
Keep up the incredible work!
Regards,
SPR
Scotty: Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Keep producing in the US and ignore the naysayers. Please remember the lefty next year and consider the 350 gram putter for those of us who love to play your fabulous putter but are not in position yet to enter into the world of collecting the rare camerons.
Scotty,
Thanks for the outstanding putters and other creations this year. I have a feeling next year is going to be even better!
Happy Holidays to you, your family, and staff

Scotty,
My hats off to you for your creations and continued success. Your brand to me, has never been about price. It is about quality. When I go to the shoe store I don’t look for the cheapest pair, I spend more because I know when I purchase them I am going to be happy, comfortable, and they will last! That is the same with Scotty Cameron and Cameron & Co. I know my putter will hold up, feel great and I am definitely crazy about the designs.
As for those naysayers who say they glass is half empty as apposed to half full , that is the way they live there lives. I share the same perspective as yourself. If someone tells me I can’t do something, it drives me even more. I enjoy being able to say to myself “Told Ya So”.
As 2008 fast approaches I wish you, Cameron & Company, the Studio Store and your new creations a continued success. I will NEVER leave your brand for another. Your creations reflect your passion and I look forward to many more releases for years to come.
Happy and safe Holidays to you, your family and everyone at the Studio Store.
Pat Regan
Happy Holidays Scotty,
I’m not as dedicated as some of your collectors, but I can’t even fathom what these “rumblings” might be about. I’ve got five of your putters, nothing extremely sought after, but whether or not they are ever worth a dime some day, I am extremely proud to collect them. They signify putting milestones in my golfing life, the memory of playing great courses with great friends, and they look pretty great sitting on display in my basement! A collectors passion is a mirror of the creator’s passion. If you didn’t care, we wouldn’t care. . .thanks for striving to be the best!
Well said Mr. Cameron. Whether you collect the rarest of the rare of simply buy off the rack, there is something for everyone in the Cameron community and at The Cameron Collector.com. Thank you for a great product/service.
P.S. Take good care of my new circa #6 coming in for some gold pimping!
Happy Holidays To All,
Aaron
People are going to talk no matter what, when someone like Scotty Cameron is doing so well and has such a strong following, there are going to be those that, since they can not be a part of the group try and put that group down. There is no way that I will ever leave Acushnet and Scotty Cameron brands because I believe in what they stand for and who they are. With my recent acquiring of my Class A-1 membership status to the PGA I am going to continue this support and ensure that as many people as possible also see what an accomplished and outstanding group of people who are involved with Scotty Cameron.
Happy Holidays to All,
PJF
Well put, Scotty. You truly are The Man.
Scotty Admirer Forever,
Mike
Scotty,
Nothing anyone could say will reduce my loyalty to you and your putters.
As long as you make ‘em, I’ll use ‘em!
Sincerely,
Rick P.
Scotty,
Your passion for your products and the manufactoring of them is
very refreshing to read. I have used Cameron putters for many years and have cared for them as they are special to me. When I look at one of my putters I know that you creatated it. To me it is a personal feeling that makes me proud to be a collector of Scotty Cameron products.
Thank you and have a great holiday,
Darel Arrowood
Scotty:
Your loyal fans and customers never waiver in the face of these naysayers. I’m glad you’ve taken a stance against them, and are fueled by their actions.
I personally take pride in owning anything with your name on it, and (as many others will) continue supporting all you do… not because of blind faith, but because of the same enjoyable pursuit you mentioned… passion.
In reference to your explanation of limited and tour putters… you have earned my trust over the past few years, but I’m glad you took the time to bolster the integrity of your products to those who may not have been aware. Those who do not know or understand Scotty Cameron as a person or a brand, quickly rush to judgment.
Simply, your products exude quality and set a precedent for all others to follow. Thank you.
Scott
Mr. Cameron:
After reading articles on scottycameron.com and in reading g your blog this year I decided to join the TCC a few months back. I have never had much fun or gotten anything of substance from participating in online message boards; but that has not been the case with TCC. The moderators at TCC and the other Hero Members have always provided me with an educated response to any question or comment I post within 15 minutes regardless of the time of day no matter what the question. In a recent post I asked about your hitch covers and with 30 minutes I knew about all 3 styles produced and had a picture of each one. While I am still labeled a newbie I look forward to being a member of the TCC and the other positive Scotty Cameron websites for years to come.
Since Tiger’s victory in the 1997 Masters I have been a big Cameron fan. I have followed your work for the past 10 years; while my collection is still of OTS putters (I am still in College,) I look forward to being able to own a 1 in 750 or my dream putter a high buff Cami & Co. GSS with Tiffany (Cami) blue paint fill and grip; because of the quality of your work. Your work is a form of art for golf. I eagerly look forward to your next masterpieces in 2008. I wish you and your family a Happy Holidays.
Sincerely:
Kyle Ellis

Dear Scotty
I have been collecting Cameron covers for a few years now and have not long joined TCC, I have found the TCC a great place to buy or even trade covers with members who are not in it to make a big profit, but to help fellow members enjoy collecting your putters or covers and accessories, I may not have a lot of headcovers but what I have I am very proud to own and even have my six year old daughter into collecting Cameron bears (she has all 4) and they are the most loved and played with possessions she has. Keep doing what you want to do and don’t bother with people who moan and have chips on there shoulders.
Yours thankfully
Mark

Seems appropriate to share that here. As a fan & collector for 15 years, I thank you again for all your past, present, and future art and craftsmanship. Happy holidays to you and yours, and best wishes for ’08.
Cheers,
Scott Thomas
I often ask myself why I ENJOY USING all the Camerons I own. It always comes back to one reason…..
they instill a confidence through their feel and look that I can’t seem to match with other products.
For my fun factor quotient, that’s all I need! I look forward to collecting many more models in the future.
A huge thank you for your creations.
Merry Christmas to you and I wish you a great year in 2008!
Scotty-san,
Thank you for update of the blog.
I enjoy all of Scotty Cameron!
A putter, a cover, a lot of goods…….
Cameron collection is a part of my life.
It is my stress refreshment to talk about the Cameron putter with a collector.
Please continue offering a cool putter to us.
A wonderful holiday!
ps
Thank you for a very cool ,very sweety, special putter!

Thank you for Scotty-san and Fukuda-san and all staffs!

Scotty,
Thank you for all that you do to provide us with the best available products. We look forward to seeing what’s in store for the Cameron collectors in 2008 and the years to follow. Happy Holidays to you, your family, and your staff. Keep up the great work!

Two small words that mean so much: Thank you!
With a Cameron in my bag for over a decade now, my passion for putting, as well as the art of putting continues to grow thanks to your craftsmanship Scotty, and the stellar support you receive from the Studio family.
Moreover, your success and stability in such a mercurial industry should demonstrate that your intricacy and care in designing the worlds greatest putters, coupled with your thoughtfulness and respect for the fan base provides us putting aficionados with the piece of mind to continue to bolster all of your business endeavors.
Correspondingly, if it wasnt for Vog and countless other TCC hero members and continual contributors to the Cameron Collector forum, my knowledge and understanding of all things Cameron would be lackluster at best!
Thank you Scotty and the Studio Family, simply, for everything…
…And thank you TCC for being a catalyst of Cameron craziness!
Respectfully,
Bradford Melrose
Mr. Cameron,
Happy holidays and thank you for adding joy and intrigue into our lives.

Happy holidays to the best bunch in the world!

I was satisfied enough about my collection this year.
I wish be also good year in 2008.
I just say Thank you very much Cameron-san and all TCC members and all Japanese Cameron collectors, my friends!!!
Merry Christmas and A happy new year!
My best regards

Scotty Cameron’s work ethic, morals and high standards of quality are a daily inspiration to me. Thank you for keeping your putters made in the USA!
Scotty:
I’ve been collecting playable classic golf clubs for 37 years and while I still enjoy finding a rare blade putter from the 60′s, your putters have become my focus. Thank you for creating the classic putters of your time and allowing me to continue to pursue my passion.
Happy Holidays to you and all involved with Scotty Cameron putters.
Warm regards,
Bruce Leland
Scotty,
Thank you for the wonderful message. I too just found TCC this year and have been educated just how wonderful your art really is! I first started using a Scotty in 2003 and one has not and will not ever leave my hands as long as I am able to golf. Like previously stated it is not about the price, it is about the quality of the product. If Scotty is good enough for the #1 player in the world then he is more good enough for me!

Scotty,
I know you may not read this message, or any person read this message, but I feel compelled to write it anyways.
Many people who are different, or stray from the norm are often put under a microscope, it is the same with those on top. Look no further than the World’s number one. Often looked at and scrutinized, a constant target on and off the course. He lets his game speak volumes instead of talking back. Scotty I hope you continue doing the same. You don’t need to retaliate to the naysayers and the doubters because your putters and their recognition speak for themselves. Why in a bag full of competitive equipment do many players still have a Scotty? Why would anyone have a Scotty? Because they all know that Cameron Putters are simply the best. I look forward to seeing many more great things to come from you Scotty, and I am eager to see how my gamer turns out after its restoration. It will get plenty of use in this upcoming college season.
Thanks again and Happy Holidays to you and your family, and to all Cameron enthusiasts.
Sincerely,
Craig
THANKS FOR THE CAMERON HOLIDAY CARD… VERY COOL.
Jimmy James
Thank You Scotty.
I have three of your putters now. Before I used a SC putter, I didn’t even like to putt. Now I practice all the time. I love the feel of a Scotty Cameron Putter.

To Scotty & every Cameron & Co. employee,
Happy Holidays and may 2008 be your best year yet!!
Thank You for keeping your eyes focused and following your hearts from the beginning. Let the jealousy of “naysayers” be the fuel to drive you & dig in deeper than ever to get that reserved artistic creatvity flowing in the way of your products..they speak volumes!!!
Your “art of putting” puts the “art of livng” in all of our lives!
A Proud member of TCC and Cameron product consumer!

Happy New Year Scotty,
“Stay focused and enjoy the ride.” I couldn’t agree with you more!
It was a very memorable year meeting and talking with you at the SCIC convention in June. Collecting Cameron creations and meeting the TCC people, Hank, Jason and the distributors has made for a wonderful extension of my golfing passion.
Continued professional and creative success in 2008 and the years ahead.
