Winning Ways

Couple of big wins this weekend I’d like to mention. First, the winner of the Viking Classic played the Studio Design custom prototype oil can I made for him earlier this year. The second and third-place finisher also played Camerons.

Also, Cobra staff ambassador and loyal Scotty Cameron putter player, Camilo Villegas, Spider-man himself, has nabbed professional win number one at the Coca-Cola Tokai Classic in Japan using the Circa ’62 #6 GSS putter you see pictured above. Hard work and commitment has paid off, as he captured the victory with a 20-foot putt for birdie on the second playoff hole.

Congratulations to all of these fine professionals for their wins. And, many thanks to them for trusting my putters to help them get the job done on the greens.

Cool putter. I usually stretch like Villegas when I drop my change under the car in the parking lot at the club. On a serious note, is there any way to increase the weight of the Circa 62 #2 to 350 grams without tape. As a lefty recreational golfer who enjoys the finer things in life (i.e.Cameron Putters), I realize that I can’t custom order a 33 inch long putter with a 350 gram head. Can the custom shop do something for me over the off season? PS: Kudos to fellow lefty and Canadian Mike Weir on his exemplary play at the President’s Cup, including his remarkable win over Tiger using his trusty Cameron Putter

Can you tell me what specs Camilo Villegas plays? I know he’s a smaller guy, but what length/headweight does he play?

Scotty wrote on October 3, 2007 at 4:08 pm

Camilo is set up at 34 3/4″, 4 degrees of loft, lie angle at 70 with a standard headweight of 330 grams on his Circa #6.

Hi Chris,
Thanks for the great comments and questions. Currently, we don’t offer a weight-addition service in the Custom Shop. Tape is your best bet, at least until next year…I’ve got a few things up my sleeve. By the way, can you send in some pics of you looking for your change? Just kidding. Enjoyed your comments.
Cya,
Scotty

Dear Mr. Cameron,

The playoff with Camilo was exciting to watch. I was watching it on TV but I could still feel the intensity of Camilo through the TV screen! The Camilo’s win made me wanna get my hands on Circa #6 soooo badly but I’m currently waiting for RED X5 to arrive in Japan. It won’t be released till 15th of October in Japan. Of course, I’ve reserved mine already. Can’t wait for that piece of art!!!

Thank you.

Scotty,

Congratulations on your world-wide wins on tour…it’s no mystery to me why the majority of the world’s best players choose to play your putters. On another note, I was just wondering what your opinion is on all these putters with grooves and grooved inserts that claim to roll the ball sooner. Have you ever thought of making a putter with this design? I’m not trying to convince you though, I love my Circa #3 the way it is. To be honest I think my Scotty rolls it better than any of the grooved putters, plus with greater feel. What do you think?

Thanks for the words, Richie. No plans to bring the GSS Circa to production, though. Glad you like it!

Scotty: Let me be the first to congratulate you on a 2nd consecutive win on the PGA Tour this week at the Valero Texas Open.
Looked like Justin Leonard won with a Tour DelMar 3.5 with his white “hockey tape” on the grip.
2nd straight Nike staff player to win in consecutive weeks…BOTH using your finely tuned Tour putters!!

Best Regards,

Eddie Gomez

hey scotty, great work getting the guys ready to win. I’m especially pumped for Camilo Villegas, he has had his share of second place finishes. That Circa 6 with the gator colors looks unbelievable.

Keep up the great work Scotty
