Titleist Ambassador Mark O’Meara
September 11th, 2007
Titleist ambassador Mark O’Meara stopped by the Putter Studio with his son last week for a quick visit and a little check-up under the Studio lights and cameras. Mark has been a long-time supporter and player of the Newport 2, and I was excited to get his feedback on a few new models I’ve been working on. He also brought in his trusty Newport 2 GSS with his well-traveled For Tour Use Only headcover. After so many rounds, it’s still looking good. I got it back to true loft and lie and sent him on his way with a new hat. Enjoy the photos.
PS: Just got my new October 2007 issue of Golf Digest, and if you’re interested in cool pictures of another famous Newport 2 putter and how it’s best put to use, check this link out.

Good to see M.O. make it down to the Studio(before or after the First Tee Event at Pebble).
How much was his lie and loft off after using the putter since the last time that he was in to see you??
Thanks for the link to the “putting drill”. I noticed that he started to employ that drill sometime after going with Hank as a teacher. Saw it for the first time when I went to Sherwood for the Target over 1 year ago. I thought it was unusual that he uses his right hand exclusively for most of the drill.
He starts every practice putting session at tournaments with that drill…never deviates.
All the best,
Eddie
Hi Eddie,
He was actually right on with his normal 3.5 degrees of loft and lie of 70.5 degrees.
Take care,
Scotty
Mr. Cameron,
Thanks for the inside look.
What?!?!? — No sneek peek at the hinted new development (putter). Boy, you sure know how to keep us on edge.
A Newport 2 is next on my shopping list — either Oil Can, vintage TEI, or whatever new you have up your sleeve.
Thanks for all you do.
Regards,
Nick Church
Scotty-san.
Thank you for update of the blog.
I look forward to your blog.
The mark-san watched any model and was excited?

TOMOHIRO
Jeez Scotty, that putter looks very very familiar!
Vog
Is it me, or is there some major grind work on the sole? I like the looks of “roley poley” work on the neck etc.
Thanks for the updates Scotty.
Andy Poe
I agree with Vog. That putter appears very familiar.
