People ask what I do for fun. I like to come up with unique stuff beyond putters. Special things that I would use and want. I create some metal sculptures, trophies, furniture, and even fireplace screens. I’m always looking to make something that catches my eye and gets me excited.
I got this idea a few weeks back when I was setting up the mill for a small run of Circa 62 No. 6 GSS putters. I had just enough steel left to do something fun with, so I decided to mill out a Scotty Dog.
Our Scotty Dog has become one of the icons of the Scotty Cameron brand. I like to incorporate him into different designs. Over the years, he has made all sorts of appearances on headcovers, golf shirts, ball marks, hats, putter stamps, etc. Now, he can be found here as a keychain. Made from GSS, with a famous Cherry Dot and vertical stamping, this design may seem familiar to some of you.
The pictures you see here are some of the experimental millings, engravings and designs I was playing around with on the road to the final design. You’ll have to wait and see exactly how it turns out, as I’m still tweaking the details. I might make a small run of these, but right now it’s JAT.

I was out at the Colonial earlier this week and bumped into Titleist ambassador and long-time putter loyalist Davis Love III. Davis and I chatted about an older putter he had at home and how he wanted me to restore it. No problem, as one of my favorite guys to work with and make putters for, I said I’d be awaiting his putter.
Davis must have put a call in to his wife because he’s in the tournament right now, but in comes the putter to the Custom Shop today. I thought you might want to see some pictures of this 009 prototype I made for him in 2005. It’s obviously seen its share of greens, as it is definitely showing signs of being played. I’ll pull the shaft and get to work on this one today.
Also, I thought you might be interested to know that Davis and his son, Dru, are big-time Cameron collectors. Davis was telling me stories about how he and Dru will spend hours online looking for rare headcovers and other fun stuff. Just amazing to know that the passion for putters runs deep through all sorts of folks out there. Enjoy the pics of Davis’ putter.

I’m really into art. Something about paintings has always fascinated me. Whether it’s something funky, realistic, abstract… it doesn’t really matter as long as it grabs me and gives me a special feeling. I’ve picked up various pieces over the years and have tried to give the Putter Studio a unique, artistic feel. And, it doesn’t really matter what you pay for a painting, it’s how it makes you feel when you look at it. As I walk through the Putter Studio every day, the art I have on the walls makes me happy. To me, coming to work and feeling good is perhaps the most important thing.
A few artists have sent in paintings with me as the subject. I always get a kick out of this. Here are a couple interesting ones. I hope you enjoy.

What started out as an interesting story on The Cameron Collector about a young boy named Harley with an eye for Scotty Cameron putters has turned into a collective effort to get this little guy his own putter. This, in turn, initiated other acts of giving and resulted in another group effort for a kid named Teddy. You can read more about these acts of generosity here.
After checking out the various chat boards and learning more about these kids and their stories, I decided to get involved. The Cameron collecting community is made up of guys with an incredible passion for putters. It’s always amazing to me to drop in on the discussions to see what’s going on. But, it obviously goes far beyond putters. It’s about camaraderie and friendship. After reading about Harley, I had to get involved. So, I donated the Custom Shop services for the Harley and Teddy projects. I’ve had fun restoring a Newport for Harley and a Studio Design 2 for Teddy, both donated by members of the Cameron Collector community. Just finished them up today and they will be on their way to their new owners this week.
Again, it’s just awesome to see a group effort pan out like this and turning into something as cool and fun as giving a kid his very own putter.

In addition to our Scotty on Tour coverage, videos, and features on ScottyCameron.com, I’ll be adding photos and other fun tidbits to the blog from inside the Putter Studio and from on Tour. It’s all part of my mission to bring you into the world of Scotty Cameron putters.
Thanks for your interest, loyalty and support. I look forward to getting in on the discussions here on the blog. Enjoy!
